KVH

For those more demanding applications where solid timber is not available, due to dimension or length limitations, KVH offers the perfect solution.

What is KVH?

“KonstruktionsVollHolz”, in German, translating to “Solid Structural Wood”

KVH is widely used in Central Europe for construction, and exported to many countries around the world, including the UK

European Whitewood is cut to dimension, selected for appropriate quality and then finger jointed in lengths up to 13m long.

Finger jointing is a tried and tested method of joining wood in the length, and the joint itself will of course meet or exceed the tested strength of the final product.

The timber is planed smooth with eased edges, graded to C24 in accordance with BS EN 15497:2014 and individually grade stamped along the length .

Available via Eva Timber, produced to customer requirements and shipped directly from our European partners to your yard.

GLULAM

What is GLULAM?

Glulam is the shortened description for “Glue Laminated”, sometimes referred to as Glue Laminated Timber or Glue Laminated Beams.

Both Glulam and KVH are frequently referred to simply as Structurally Engineered Wood. Glulam is extraordinarily versatile.

By Glue Laminating individual layers of Finger Jointed structural Whitewood together, much larger cross section sizes can be achieved compared to using solid timber alone.

Large beams up to 600mm high, 240mm wide and up to 14m long can be manufactured. The beams are strength marked GL24 and can be individually cling wrapped to protect them from dust and dirt on site. Purely structural, or visual structural grades can be specified.

It is even possible to use European Larch on the outer faces, commonly used in log house building in Europe.

Eva Timber’s partners produce a range of standard Glulam dimensions, but please call us with your specific enquiries if they differ from the standard specifications
